Meet Dani: A Summer Update From KFW's Whitby-Oshawa Division Owner

If you've trained with Dani Nicholls, owner and head coach of the KeepFit Women Whitby-Oshawa Division, you already know she brings the same energy to her own training as she does to your sessions. She's mid-training block for two big races this fall, still coaching FitCamp and StrollerFit around Whitby and Oshawa herself, and just launched a new small-group strength program. Here's what she's been up to, and what's coming up at KFW this season.

What Is Dani Training For This Summer?

Dani is deep into training for two events this fall: her second Hyrox Doubles race in Toronto, and her first full marathon, the Toronto Waterfront Marathon. That's a demanding combination, endurance and functional strength work layered on top of each other, and it's very on-brand for how she coaches. She's also easing back into cycling, building toward longer rides with a Gran Fondo as the eventual goal.

It's a full training plate, but Dani has said this kind of layered training is exactly what she believes in: building a body that can do many different things well, not just one. It also means she's living the same principle she coaches around every week, progressive, structured training over random effort, whether that shows up in a Hyrox training block or a Tuesday morning FitCamp session.

What Does Coaching KFW Actually Look Like For Her?

Ask Dani what she loves most about coaching and it's not the workouts themselves, it's watching her clients change. Over her time with KFW, she's seen women move through real transformations, and she's quick to point out that it's rarely just about the physical side. The community that forms around a KFW session, the women who show up for each other on the hard weeks and celebrate the wins together, is what she says makes the work worth it.

That's the KFW difference in a sentence: sessions built around real coaching, in a group small enough that people actually know each other's names. It's less about any single workout and more about what happens when the same group of women show up together week after week. The workouts get people in the door, but it's the community that tends to keep them there.

What Do The Results Actually Look Like?

Dani's talk about transformation isn't just a feeling, it shows up in the numbers too. In an 8-week FitCamp assessment she tracked this spring (May to June 2026, 11 participants, pre and post testing), the group's average pushups went from 36 to 41, an increase of about 14%. Average jump lunges climbed from 54 to 67 reps, up roughly 24%. And average 200m run time dropped from 1:08 to 0:57, over 16% faster. Every single participant, 11 out of 11, improved their 200m run time over the eight weeks.

It's a small group and a single 8-week window, so treat it as a snapshot of what's possible rather than a guarantee, but it's real tracked data, not a general impression, and it lines up with what members say about training with her.

What's New With Dani's Programs This Season?

As owner and head coach of the Whitby-Oshawa Division, Dani runs KFW FitCamp and KFW StrollerFit herself, and this summer she added a third option: KFW Strong, a small-group strength program built around progressive overload and proper technique. Her goal with KFW Strong is simple: help women stop guessing in the gym and actually understand how to build real, measurable strength in a supportive environment, rather than bouncing between routines with no real plan behind them.

If you want the full breakdown of what KFW Strong involves, we covered it in detail in a separate post. The short version: it's for women who are done guessing and want a program with an actual structure behind it.

What Does Dani Do Outside Of Coaching?

When she's not coaching, Dani spends as much time as possible outdoors, especially up north in the summer with her family. Kayaking, wakeboarding, tennis, hiking, whatever gets everyone outside together. For Dani, being active has never just been about fitness. It's a lifestyle she genuinely enjoys, on and off the clock.

Outside of movement, she describes herself as a curious person: entrepreneurship, food and wine, travel, interior design, books, and photography all make the list. It's part of why her coaching philosophy leans the way it does. She believes fitness works best when it supports the life you actually want to live, not when it takes over and crowds everything else out. That mindset shapes how she programs sessions too: hard enough to matter, realistic enough to fit into an already full life.

Why Is Dani Starting A Newsletter?

Dani is launching a weekly Sunday newsletter where she'll share what she's training for, reading, cooking, and thinking about that week. The idea is to build something that nudges people toward living a bit healthier, a bit more intentionally, and a bit more curiously, without it feeling like one more thing to keep up with. If that sounds like your kind of Sunday read, keep an eye on KFW's channels for the sign-up link.

The Bottom Line

Dani's summer is full: two big races, a growing program lineup, and a new newsletter on top of coaching sessions every week. What ties it together is the same thing that shows up in her coaching: consistency, structure, and a belief that fitness should fit into your life rather than compete with it.

If you've been thinking about joining a session in Whitby or Oshawa, now's a good time to see what she's built. You can check out FitCamp, StrollerFit, or read more about KFW Strong to find the right fit.
