Can You Just Drop In to KFW Mama Walk + Pilates?

Yes. You don't need to commit to a full program to try Mama Walk + Pilates. It's a single 45-minute drop-in session for $18 plus HST ($20.34), held Thursdays at 10:15 a.m. through the summer at Heydenshores Waterfront Park in Whitby, and you can show up once and see how it feels before deciding on anything else.

That's really the point of this session. It's low-pressure by design, part walk, part workout, part chance to be around other moms who get it, and it's here for the summer, so there's a natural window to try it before the season wraps.

What Actually Happens in a Mama Walk + Pilates Session?

We start together as a group, walking along the waterfront trail (or running, if that's more your speed that day). Along the way, we stop at a few movement stations for quick strength exercises, nothing that requires equipment you don't already have with you. Once we've made our way through the trail portion, we finish in the park with a guided Pilates and core segment.

The whole thing runs 45 minutes, start to finish, so it fits into a morning without taking it over.

Who Is This Session For?

Any mom in the Whitby and Durham Region area looking for something social, flexible, and outdoors. Some women come because they want a structured workout. Some come because they want an excuse to get outside and talk to another adult. Most come for both. Strollers are part of the plan, not an obstacle to work around, so bringing your little one is expected, not just tolerated.

If you're newer to postpartum movement, this is a reasonable place to start. If you've been consistent with fitness for a while and just want something different than a gym, it works for that too. The pace and intensity of the walk portion can flex to where you're at that day.

What Should I Bring?

  • Your stroller, if you're bringing one
  • Comfortable walking or running shoes
  • Water
  • A yoga or Pilates mat
  • Weather-appropriate layers, since we're outside for the full session

How Do I Sign Up for a Drop-In?

You can book a single Mama Walk + Pilates session directly online for any Thursday this summer. Availability is limited to keep the group at a size where our coach can still connect with everyone, so if a specific Thursday matters to you, it's worth booking a few days ahead rather than assuming there's room that morning.

What If the Weather Doesn't Cooperate?

We'll always communicate ahead of the session if weather is a concern. If a session needs to be moved or cancelled, we'll let registered participants know as early as we can.

Why Whitby's Heydenshores Waterfront Park?

The trail and open green space give us both a walking path and a spot to finish the Pilates and core portion without needing a studio. It's also central enough for moms coming from across Whitby and Oshawa, which is part of why this location works well.

Is Mama Walk + Pilates Part of a Bigger KFW Program?

It can be. Some women use the drop-in as a one-off, and some use it as their entry point into KFW's regular Mom & Baby and StrollerFit programming in Whitby and Oshawa. Neither path is the "right" one. If you try the drop-in and want more structure or a regular weekly spot, that's a conversation worth having with your coach after your first session, not something you need to decide before you've tried it.

FAQ

Do I need to register in advance, or can I just show up?

Advance registration is recommended since space is limited. Book online for your chosen date.

Is this appropriate if I'm still early in postpartum recovery?

Every postpartum timeline is different, and this session isn't a substitute for medical clearance to exercise. If you've been cleared for movement, the pace of the walk can be adjusted, and the Pilates and core segment is coached, not just self-directed.

Can I bring an older child, or does it need to be a baby in a stroller?

The session is built around stroller-friendly movement, so a baby or younger toddler who rides in the stroller works best.

What if I've never done Pilates before?

That's fine. The Pilates and core portion is coached and scaled to the group, so you don't need prior experience to join.

Do I need any equipment I don't already own?

No special equipment is required beyond a stroller and a mat.
