What to Bring to FitCamp and StrollerFit & Progressive Overload Explained

If you're gearing up for a KeepFit Women program, KFW FitCamp® or KFW StrollerFit, it's important to know what to pack in your bag. We want to make your fitness experience both enjoyable and effective! We recommend wearing comfortable workout clothing, bringing water and one set of dumbbells. Typically, members find that 10lb, 12lb, or 15lb dumbbells are perfect for most exercises. However, you won't be limited to just those weights. Your KeepFit Women coaches will bring additional equipment, such as dumbbells, kettlebells, agility ladders, battle ropes, and more, to keep your workouts challenging and interesting.

Now, you might be wondering why you should bring your own dumbbells and why we also provide additional equipment. It all comes down to a fundamental principle of fitness – progressive overload. This concept is the key to ensuring that the weights you use during your workouts provide a challenge and help you make real progress.

Progressive overload is about gradually increasing the demands you place on your body to promote growth and improvement. When you lift weights, your muscles adapt to the stress you put them through. If you find that the exercise is too easy, it's time to increase the load (aka weight). On the other hand, if it's too difficult to maintain proper form, it's best to go a bit lighter. It is important to keep in mind that if your workouts don't present a challenge, you might not achieve the best possible results.

For example, they might tweak the tempo of a movement, add a plyometric aspect to it, or introduce innovative variations that target specific muscle groups.
